GETTING STARTED

  • Set up your Slack profile and add a profile photo. 

  • Introduce yourself in the #introductions channel.  

SLACK ENGAGEMENT

  • Review the channel directory and join channels that match your interests, experience, and location.

  • #announcements - Find important member updates and reminders from Rhize leadership in this channel.

  • Industry Channels: Connect with other members in your industry through dedicated channels like *#ind-data, #ind-marketing, #ind-tech, etc. 

  • Region Channels: connect with members in your region by joining channels like #rgn-chicago, #rgn-nyc, #rgn-west-coast, etc. 

TIPS FOR SLACK SUCCESS

  • Use the Slack search bar to find relevant people, resources, and conversations by entering keywords.

  • Shy about asking for advice? Use Slack's anonymous posting feature by typing "/anonymous" to open the dialogue box in any channel.

  • Being an active community member doesn't mean you have to post every day. Show your support with a simple emoji reaction to encourage conversations that are already happening.

  • Set aside 10 minutes each day to browse your channels and engage with your network. This is a simple way to build meaningful relationships.

  • Use these templates as conversation starters to connect with other members:

    • Expertise Connection: Hi ________, I noticed your post about ________ in the ________ channel. It really caught my interest! I'm working on ________ and would love to learn more. Would you be open to a 15-minute virtual coffee chat this week?

    • Mutual Learning Approach: Hi ________, your recent post about ________ in the ________ channel resonated with me. I'm working on something similar and believe we have complementary approaches. Would you like to compare notes over a brief virtual coffee?

Roundtable Discussions: Explore trending topics in depth with a small group of peers. While our host facilitates, you drive the conversation. Share insights, learn from others' experiences, and tackle challenges together. Think of it as a mastermind session with your job seeking allies.

Expert-led Workshops: Learn directly from industry experts in focused sessions. Our specialists share their knowledge while you bring your curiosity. Gain practical insights, actionable strategies, and answers to your questions—all in one powerful hour!

Pro Tip: Add the Rhize Google Calendar to your personal calendar and treat these events as valuable professional development opportunities. Your active participation enriches both your experience and the entire Rhize community.

We suggest these engagement goals:
