Resume Review Happy Hour: BYO Resume, Cover Letter & drink of choice!

WHO IS HOSTING? Giovanna Ventola plus the whole room because this one's built to be crowdsourced!

WHAT ARE WE DOING? An open, drop-in session focused strictly on resumes and cover letters, that's it. No interview prep, no portfolios, definitely no LinkedIn (for this one). Bring the resume you've rewritten five times, the cover letter opening that isn't landing, a bullet point you can't get right and get real eyes on it, live, from me and from other members who've been exactly where you are.

September is when hiring ramps back up (allegedly) and a lot of us are trying to get these documents in shape now so we're ready to actually start something new in January. The goal isn't a perfect resume, it's getting your actual expertise and experience down on paper clearly enough that you're proud of it and can stop overthinking it.

Ahead of the call, drop your resume or cover letter in our new #resumes-and-cover-letters channel and we'll start workshopping feedback ahead of the call. A few of the documents shared in that channel may be used as real examples on the call (I'll always check with you first).

And this isn't a one-off call. After September 15, we're going to keep doing regular resume and cover letter review sessions, and the #resumes-and-cover-letters channel will be the place to go to keep the conversation going, 24/7.

WHEN IS THE SESSION? Tuesday, September 15, 3–5PM EST. Come for the whole thing or drop in for just the part you need.

WHY SHOULD I SHOW UP? Because staring at your own resume alone is the worst way to fix it, and because someone else in this room probably has the exact eye you need on the exact section you're stuck on.

HOW CAN I SET MYSELF UP FOR SUCCESS? Drop your resume or cover letter in #resumes-and-cover-letters before the call if you want feedback ahead of time. Otherwise, just have it open and ready to share (screen share or paste the section) when you join. Come with a specific question if you've got one like "is this bullet too vague," "does my summary make sense", "how do I use metrics for this role"... specific questions get you further than "can someone look at this."
